106,000 NEW TEXTBOOKS FOR FIJI SCHOOLS - 13 FEBRUARY 2021

Following recent cyclone and flooding disasters in Fiji, particularly, Vanua Levu and several outlying areas, many affected schools will receive new textbooks from the Association this month.

The consignment is of 106,000 resource books in a range of subjects for secondary schools: including Mathematics, English, Physics, Accounting, Chemistry, Biology, and Science.

With assistance from the New Zealand High Commission and the Fijian Ministry of Education, the books are gifted to MOE for distribution and will be handed over to the Hon Rosy Akbar Minister of Education by High Commissioner Jonathan Curr.

We gratefully acknowledge the assistance of Hon P Henare, Minister of Defense, and the Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF) in transporting the consignment to Nadi on its special emergency flight of 13 February 2021.

HANDING OVER CEREMONY - 9 MARCH 2021

New Zealand's Acting High Commissioner, Michelle Podmore called on Fiji's Minister of Education for a brief handing over ceremony for the consignment of textbooks gifted by the Fiji Association.

Speaking at the reception, where the media and staff of the Ministry and High Commission were present, High Commissioner Podmore said the project had been successful by the joint cooperation of the Fiji Association, High Commission, Ministry of Education, RNZAF, and the Fiji Army helping at the border. Now, beneficial textbooks and references can be used in many schools as hundreds of textbooks would soon be sent to schools across Fiji.

Fiji's Minister of Education, Hon Rosy Akbar thanked the Fiji Association for another large consignment and paid tribute to its record of assistance to students in many Fijian schools.
